About Us

Jack’s Discount Pharmacy opened in West Blocton, Alabama in 1988. In 2012, the pharmacy was purchased by Neil Hitchcock.   Neil and the Jack’s Discount Pharmacy team invite you to stop in any time and experience the independent pharmacy difference!

Neil Hitchcock, Pharmacist and Owner

A 1998 graduate of Samford’s McWhorter School of Pharmacy, Neil has worked in a variety of pharmacy roles and for a number of well-known companies throughout his career. These include pharmaceutical sales, cancer and Alzheimer’s clinical research, long-term care pharmacy and pharmacy manager for such companies as Johnson & Johnson, United Healthcare, and CVS/Caremark. Although enjoying working for these larger companies, Neil longed to have more of a direct impact in people’s lives. Purchasing Jack’s Discount Pharmacy in 2012 and returning to Alabama has given Neil that balance of being able to serve in a community, help others directly, and use his wide range of real world knowledge as pharmacist and owner. When not working, Neil enjoys spending time with his wife and son.

David Tyner, Pharmacist

A pharmacist for over 40 years, David has worked in a variety of settings. Before becoming Chief Pharmacist at Cooper Green Hospital in Birmingham where he was employed for over 16 years, David worked in the independent pharmacy community for both Alley’s Drug Store and High-Kel Pharmacy in Homewood. On his off days, he enjoys hunting, fishing and golf. David has been with Jack’s Discount Pharmacy for over 15 years and enjoys serving the customers and community.

Stephanie Grayson, Pharmacist

A recent graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy, Stephanie has experienced a variety of pharmaceutical areas including critical care, transplant, pharmacy management, and ambulatory care among others throughout her years in school. Apart from educational rotations, Stephanie previously worked at Mr. Discount Drugs, an independent pharmacy in her hometown. Stephanie is also certified in delivering patient centered diabetes care, pharmacy based immunizations, basic life support, and medication therapy management. It is her hope to apply knowledge of these past experiences to fulfill her passion of helping others in the community setting. During her free time, Stephanie plans to explore the Birmingham area, acquaint herself with the community, and make Alabama her new home.
